Barbara Mason Rast is an artist whose desire to illustrate Children's Books began at about the age of six when she first saw the art of Jessie Willcox Smith,Maxfield Parrish and other golden age illustrators.
As a teen she developed an interest in learning to paint like the masters, such as Rubens and Van Dyck.
She is a realist and endeavors to depict the magic of nature in her work wherever possible. She also enjoys fantasy and likes to employ a magical quality in her children's book illustrations.
She works professionally in commercial, Illustrative and graphic art as well as portrait painting, still life and other forms of fine art.
Barbara has several Children's Books in print and several works in progress of which she is both writer and illustrator.
Her main objective in art and writing is to convey a sense of beauty, harmony, humor and phantasmagoria;a world of magical Perfection.
